For off-highway E-mobility applications, RECOM has introduced its small, plug-and-play RMOD500-W family of cost-effective DC-DC converters. The completely enclosed, chassis-mounted components, with a 500W output and an input range of 32-96V, are perfect for nominal 48V, 60V, 72V, and 80V battery sources. DC-DC converters are available with an IP67 classification. The output voltages that are available include 13.7V, 13V, 12.4V, 11.7V, 24.5V, and 23.5V. For more power, parts can be paralleled. The ambient operating temperature range is between -40C and +90C, and the approved isolation rating is to 2.25kVDC. Over-temperature, input under-voltage, input reverse polarity, output over-current, and output over-voltage are all covered by comprehensive protection. All necessary certifications for EMC, shock/vibration, thermal shock/temperature cycling, salt mist, water/dust ingress, and safety have been obtained for the parts.

The range, which is intended for baseplate cooling, is 198 mm x 113 mm x 45 mm, including connections. The device may be installed in any exposed vehicle location because of the water- and dust-proofing, including connections. According to Marco Kuhn of RECOM, “With the shift to ‘greener’ transportation options, our new series of E-mobility DC-DCs is suited for numerous applications.” In applications including material handling, construction, sporting arenas, and general industry, the items can be utilized to provide an isolated power rail for auxiliary functions in electric cars.
