A compact, high-efficiency, synchronous buck converter with an adaptive on-time D-CAP3 control mode is the Texas Instruments TPS56C231. The gadget is easy to operate and requires minimal external components because external correction is not required. The device is perfect for data center applications that need limited space.

The device includes competitive characteristics such a very accurate reference voltage, quick load transient response without requiring external compensation, an adjustable current limit, and the ability to switch between Eco-mode and FCCM operation modes at low load conditions by configuring the MODE pin. Eco-mode can be chosen to operate at a high efficiency level under light load. FCCM can be chosen to fulfill strict output voltage ripple requirements.

The junction temperature range for the device is between -40C and 125C.
