A 3W variant of its isolated RSH series in a surface-mount configuration with wide input ranges has been added to RECOM’s lineup of DC-DC converters. A development of the popular RSH2 series, the RECOM RSH3 DC-DC converter offers wide ranges, fully regulated, low-noise, and isolated 3W outputs in a surface mount design. The series has nominal outputs of 5V, 12V, 15V, 24V, +/12V, and +/15V and nominal inputs of 12V (9-18V) and 24V (18-36V), which are useful for battery- or bus-powered systems. The components offer short-circuit and overcurrent protection, and a straightforward external filter allows them to comply with EN 55032 class A or B input noise limitations. There is no requirement for a minimum load, and the on/off control is common. The items in the series are perfect for demanding industrial, test and measurement, and transportation applications since they operate from 40C to over 80C without derating.
With certification to UL/IEC/EN 62368-1, the isolation rating is 2kVDC/60s (with an optional 3kVDC/60s). The items comply with RoHS-2. The series comes in a small, thin DIP14 SMD chassis that is available in tube or tape-and-reel packaging. The components may be soldered using industry-standard JEDEC profiles during IR-oven or vapour-phase reflow processes. The surface mount RSH3 series expands on the popularity of our 2W version and offers more power for isolated on-board DC rails in mains- and battery-powered equipment, according to Matthew Dauterive, the DC-DC product manager at RECOM. In ground-loop isolation for commercial sensors and bus communication networks, the RSH3 will also be useful.
