The RPMGQ-20 and RPMGS-20 are two new lines of affordable switching regulators offered by RECOM and they have an 18V-75V input range and are open-frame, through-hole, non-isolated DC-DC buck converters. Optional nominal outputs are available in 3.3V to 8V and 8V to 24V trim ranges for 5V or 12V, respectively. The RPMGS-20 is in the growing standard package size of 36.83mm x 34.04mm with a standard sixteenth brick pin-out, and the RPMGQ-20 is available in an industry-standard quarter-brick configuration. The output current for all versions is 20A. The greatest height that these goods can extend from their mounting surface is 15mm.

The efficiency of these variations is extremely high, reaching peaks of 98% for versions with 12V output and 94% for versions with 5V output, with a nearly flat efficiency curve down to 10% load. The products allow remote sense and control input and offer thorough protection from input undervoltage, output over-current, short circuits, and over-temperature. Full load is available for all variations at an ambient temperature of greater than 90C with air flow, derating to 120C. According to Matthew Dauterive, DC-DC product manager at RECOM, these super-high efficiency DC-DCs with their high operating temperature capability are suitable as a point of load converters in demanding distributed power topologies.
